In a shocking incident at the Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin, a Catholic private school in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, near Bayonne, a 16-year-old pupil has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a 52-year-old female teacher to death.
The attack took place in a classroom around 10 am on Wednesday, where the teenager reportedly pulled out a knife from his bag and stabbed the teacher once. After the attack, the pupil left the classroom and went to a neighboring class, where he confessed to another teacher and handed over the knife.

Unfortunately, the victim was declared dead by emergency services.The French education minister, Pap Ndiaye, visited the school on Wednesday afternoon, but he stated that there was nothing about the suspect or the school that could have foreseen this tragic incident.
He added that the school was known for its calm, scholarly climate, and announced that one minute’s silence would be held in all schools on Thursday.
The public prosecutor, Jérôme Bourrier, confirmed that the 16-year-old student is being held at Bayonne police station and has been seen by a doctor who deemed him well enough to remain in custody and questioned.
