Southampton has successfully knocked out Arsenal(the current cup holders) from the FA Cup, as they defeated the gunners 1-0 at home today in the 4th round of the competition.
The Saints were determined and very consistent with their attacks in the opening period of the match, and finally got rewarded for their efforts when Arsenal’s defender Gabriel, mistakenly turned Kyle Walker-Peters’ cross into his own net in the 24th minute.
In the second half of the match, Arsenal seemed more alive and some fresh substitutes from their bench gave them more energy, but it was all wasted as Southampton refused to allow them score a goal.
Following their loss to Southampton(their first in 7 games), Arsenal is now out of the FA Cup, and have just the Premier League and Europa League left to focus on this season. Southampton on the other hand would go on to face Wolves in the next round of the FA Cup.
