The Nigerian national U-23 team called the ‘Super Eagles’, may not be super after all, as they lost a 4 goal lead and were held to a draw by Sierra Leone’s national team yesterday.

The match which was an Afcon Qualification fixture, was held at Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria, and the eagles took advantage of their home turf as Alex Iwobi scored a brace, while Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze added 1 goal each to the tally, which gave them a 4 goal lead in the first half.
However, The Super Eagles failed to hold on to their lead as the Sierra leoneans- who seemed to have been inspired by their late goal in the first half- surprisingly came up from behind them, to bring the match level and forced the game into an 8 goal draw.
The Eagles led by Gernot Rohr, still remain on top of Group L with a total of 7 points, while Benin Republic comes second with three points.
