Eddie Nketiah continues to impress with his superb form in the Carabao cup, as he scored an hatrick last night to help Arsenal bury Sunderland under a mountain of goals.
Nketiah scored the first goal in the quater final match when he pounced on the rebound from Rob Holding’s header.
Nicolas Pepe-a long time bench-warmer- then doubled Arsenal’s lead at the Emirates, after receiving an assist from Cedric.
However, Sunderland refused to accept defeat and struck back when Nathan Broadhead scored with fine chip over Bernd Leno.
Unfortunately, the gunners were taking no prisoners, and they proved this when Nketiah sent in Tavares’ low cross a few minutes after the break.
The youngster wasn’t done however, as he scored his third goal in the 58th minute, when he skilfully flicked Pepe’s pass between his legs and beyond Lee Burge.
Arsenal’s victory was rubberstamped at injury time, when their young debutante Charlie Patino scored the fifth goal for the gunners.
With this victory in the bag, Arsenal will now discover their last-four opponents on Wednesday when the draw takes place.
