The Premier League has postponed Leicester City’s match against Spurs due to “an increase in Covid-19 cases within Leicester’s squad.”
Reports say Leicester City has now shutdown its facilities and stopped all first team operations for 48hours, to contain the virus.
This becomes the second EPL game suspended this week, as Man United also postponed their Wednesday match against Brentford.
However, Leicester and Man United are not the only clubs affected, as Chelsea and Burnley have also had cases.
After its last covid-19 tests, the Premier League announced a total of 42 positive tests among players and staff.
The league has since announced that it would examine applications for postponement on a “case-by-case basis ” and decisions would be “based on existing rules and Covid-19 postponement guidance issued to all clubs”.
It also said its board would consider various factors, such as the “ability of a club to field a team; the status, severity and potential impact of the Covid-19 outbreak at the club; and the ability of the players to safely prepare for and play the match.”
