Leeds United have stolen a late win and 3 points from Crystal Palace, as they won their Premier League clash with a late VAR awarded penalty.
VAR awarded Leeds the penalty kick in the 91st minute of the match, when Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi adjudged guilty of the handling the match ball.
Leeds man Raphina stepped up and secured the win for his side with a fine penalty kick.
Unfortunately, Palace failed to properly use their earlier goal scoring chances, as Benteke headed wide from inside the six-yard box and again failed to swith a long range strike, which was stopped by Leeds’ Illan Meslier.
According to Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa in a post-match interview “Raphinha’s very important and to score that goal he needed a lot of character, personality and courage. He got us the three points,”
Speaking further, he said “We haven’t taken many points so far this season. Every game we see as an opportunity to balance this out.
“The opposing team had developed their play very well and it was very difficult to keep that clean sheet.”
Fortunately for Leeds, they now have 4 wins in 14 Premier League matches this season, and have now moved up from 17th to 15th on the league table.
