A lady who was given two and a half years jail term after she made the mistake of sending GHc30,000 [1.9million] instead of GHc3000 [199,440] to a client has in an interview recounted the unfortunate incident.
The former mobile money operator, Gift Tetteh, only realized her mistake in the evening of that day while trying to balance her bills.

In the interview she had with Crime Check Foundation’s Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, she said she had tried to contact the client but he refused to pick calls.

She also mentioned that MTN confirmed that the client withdrew the money from his account.
After her boss found out about the mistake, they came to an agreement that Gift would pay GHc1000 [66,215.14] monthly from her salary.
She was able to meet up with the payment but in the fifth month, she paid GHc800. This infuriated her boss and she arrested Gift for going against their agreement.
The 27 year old was given two and a half years jail term and still told that she must pay the money after she’s released.
