In their community, somewhere in Enugu state, it’s part of their traditional that the couple must take an oath that punishes anyone who cheats in a relationship.

According to the ritual, the partner who cheats will go crazy. The couple had earlier decided they would not be taking the oath but along the line the family of the groom insisted that they should take the oath.
The bride said she would agree only if her husband to be was made to take the oath as well. He refused to do take the oath but he wanted her to do it.
The bride was infuriated at the new arrangement and went ahead to cancel the wedding.
It seems she’ll only agree to the wedding if the husband agrees to take the oath with her or if the family agrees to their earlier decision of not taking the oath.
