Eddie Howe, will wait longer to make his first appearance with Newcastle, as he would be missing in action during his first match in charge of the club, after testing positive for covid-19 on Friday.
Newcastle, who are currently second bottom on the Premier League table, will host Brentford on Saturday at 15:00 GMT, and their new boss would be absent.
“I’m very disappointed that I won’t be there with you all at St James’ Park tomorrow,” Howe said.
“I have been, and will be, in constant communication with my coaching team and the players, both tomorrow and during the week, and I know they will be giving everything on and off the pitch.”
It now falls to Howe’s assistants Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones to take charge of the team for Saturday’s match, while Howe waits for another day to his debut appearance.
