In 2018, Carey Joy became the wife of Albert Wanyonyi, a boda boda rider from Bungoma. She arrived Bungoma as a US missionary and chose to remain after meeting Albert.
Carey said that during their first meeting, while he was introducing himself, God told her that Albert is her husband and that’s the reason she was never able to find a husband back in the US.

Carey decided to follow the leading from God and ignore the fact that her husband is a primary 2 drop out and a boda boda rider.
The biggest challenge they had in the beginning of their relationship was language. They couldn’t communicate properly as her husband could not speak English well so they had to communicate with signs and feelings.
But Carey has been able to learn Swahili and that has made their communication and marriage much better.
The couple is happily married with 2 children.
