A blind man named Francis Ugachukwu found himself remanded to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State.
The allegations against him were related to the defilement of a 13-year-old girl in the state. Justice Abiola Soladoye ordered the remand of Ugachukwu while awaiting the hearing and filing of his bail application.

The defendant faced an arraignment on a single count charge of defilement.The state prosecution counsel, Abimbola Abolade, presented the case, stating that the defendant committed the alleged offence in November 2022 at No. 16 Kareem Giwa Street, Abule-Osun, Ojoo, Lagos State.
The charge levied against him was in violation of Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.Ugachukwu, however, entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.
Justice Soladoye adjourned the case to October 18 for the hearing of the bail application and the commencement of the trial.
