Moses Gibson, a 41-year-old software engineer from Minnesota, has shelled out more than $170,000 on two leg-lengthening surgeries in an effort to make himself more attractive to women.
Gibson, who stands at just 5-foot-5-inches, admitted to struggling to find a girlfriend due to his height and turned to pills and a spiritual healer before resorting to surgery.
“I just didn’t feel good about myself,” Gibson said in an interview with Kennedy News and Media. “It was my self-confidence in general, and with the ladies. It affected my dating life. I used to put things in my shoes to gain a little bit of height, but it wasn’t very much.”

After saving $75,000 over three years, Gibson underwent the first surgery in 2016, which added three inches to his height, taking him to 5-foot-8.
However, he still felt that he needed to be taller, and earlier this year, he underwent a second, even more painful procedure that involved breaking his tibia and fibula bones and screwing magnetic, limb-lengthening nails into them.
Gibson now uses a height-lengthening device three times a day to gradually pull the cut bone apart and encourage his body to create new bone tissue.
Doctors have said that if he uses the device correctly, he will eventually be 5-foot-10. Despite the pain and expense of the procedures, Gibson has no regrets and even encourages others to do the same.
“I’d advise anybody who wants this to go for it — it’s definitely worth it,” he said. “I’m definitely wanting to spread the word, and if it can help other people go through it then so be it, I’m glad.
