A man from Enugu State, Nigeria has been accused of beating his wife to death over a loaf of bread.

The deceased, Ogochukwu Enene, was originally from Umuokpu village in Anambra State, but was married to Ndubisi Uwadiegwu.

According to a statement by the couple’s 14-year-old son, Uwadiegwu became angry when his wife asked him to buy bread for the family, claiming he had no money.
Enene then used her own money to purchase a loaf of bread, but Uwadiegwu reportedly ate the entire loaf and became violent when confronted by his wife. He began to beat and that led to her death.
A source close to the family confirmed that the incident occurred in Lagos and stated that Enene was the Senior Prefect of Amenyi Girls Secondary School in 2000. No official statement has been made by the family at this time.
