South London club Chelsea, has sacked it’s manager Frank Lampard after 18 unsuccessful months in charge, and ex-Paris St-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel, has been named as his replacement.

Lampard, aged 42, was an iconic Chelsea player(midfielder), who signed a 3 year contract to become the club’s manager on July 4th 2019, following the dismissal of Maurizio Sarri.
During his entire tenure as Chelsea’s manager, Lampard failed to win any trophy or league title. His final game was held on January 24th 2020 against Luton, which ended as a 3-1 victory for Chelsea.
Currently, the Blues have lost five of their past eight league games, a disappointing statistic considering the £220M spent in the previous transfer window to bring in players like Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.
Chelsea in it’s official statement, said “This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the owner and the board have taken lightly.
“We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as head coach of the club. However, recent results and performances have not met the club’s expectations, leaving the club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.
“There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the club time to improve performances and results this season.”
The club’s owner Roman Abrahmovich also said that it was a “very difficult decision for the club” and that he had the “utmost respect” for Frank Lampard.
In his own words, Lampard “is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.”
