Liverpool’s Manager Jurgen Klopp, says his team’s loss to Burnley was a “massive punch in the face”, he however took full responsibility for his team’s disappointing performance, and humiliating defeat.
Liverpool -who are the current defending champions of the Premier league- won their first premier league title in 30 years last season, but have failed to replicate their success this season, as they are currently six points away from Manchester United who is currently on top of the league table.
Following their emphatic 7-0 victory over crystal palace on December 19 2020, it seemed they had finally gotten back to their victorious ways, but they have since failed to win a match
Speaking with BBC Sport in a post match interview, Jurgen Klopp said “It’s a tough one, not easy to explain, these boys are not the kind of person after a 7-0 to think ‘we’ll go like this’, they worked hard tonight and it didn’t happen.
“If something doesn’t work, you have to try harder, more often, longer. It was not easy to lose that game and we did it. If I sit now here, losing against Burnley and didn’t score for the last four games and talk about the title race, how silly that would be?”
Following their loss, Liverpool is now 4th on the league table, and their next fixture pitches them against Manchester United in the 4th round of the FA cup.
