Police authorities in Niger State have apprehended Adamu Danga Rijau, aged 62, on suspicion of assaulting a 6-year-old girl at a cemetery in Minna, Niger State.

According to DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer of the command, the arrest came after a concerned eyewitness reported the incident on February 6.
The incident, which occurred on January 30, 2024, around 9:00 PM, was brought to light when witnesses observed Adamu Danga Rijau, aged 62, from the Bosso Lowcost area of Minna, inappropriately engaging with a minor girl, approximately 6 years old, near the Numui cemetery. The suspect, without trousers, fled the scene upon realizing he had been noticed.
Law enforcement officers from the Bosso Division quickly responded to the alert, only to find that the suspect had been intercepted and detained by members of the public. Following his apprehension, Adamu Danga Rijau was escorted to the Bosso Division for initial inquiries before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation.”
